Kimmins Commences Howard F. Curren AWTP Pipe & Conduit Rehab

Scope includes slip lining the existing 66” LCP pipe with 63” HDPE pipe and coating (sub work) existing effluent conduits.  The work is split into two phases and each must be completed within a two week period to minimize disruption to plant.  Sheeting and shoring was utilized to protect workers and safeguard existing utilities including a 96” influent pipe.  Work also includes the installation of several smaller new or temporary plant piping including Thickening Tank Overflow, Air Cooling Water Discharge, Scum and Irrigation.  In addition to the coating subcontractor we used cranes to assist in the installation of stop logs, cutters to saw cut access/pipe insertion holes and cleaner to vacuum out debris in pipe.

Working for the City of Tampa, the project was set to begin in June, 2011 and is expected to be completed in 4 months from the date of start. The site is located at the Port of Tampa.
